Privacy Policy — Wick & Warden
Overview. Wick & Warden is a strategy board game about shared light: move your wardens through lantern-lit squares and bring the embers home, against the device or with a friend on the same screen. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no online play and no servers of its own. Your progress is stored on your device and is never uploaded. The game is free to play and supported by ads, with an optional one-time purchase that removes them.
What the game stores
Your campaign stars, your daily-vigil results, the duel you are in the middle of with its recent undo moves, how many hints you have used in it, and your sound and reduced-motion settings. All of it is kept in the app's own local storage on your device. Wick & Warden does not upload it, and we cannot see it.
There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data, removes everything the game has stored.
Advertising
Wick & Warden shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. A banner appears on the home screen, and an occasional full-screen ad may appear after a finished duel — never while you are playing one. To serve and measure those ads, Google receives information from your device, which may include your advertising ID, IP address, device and operating system details, coarse location derived from your IP address, and how you interact with an ad. This information is handled by Google, not by us; see Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services.
On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of personalised advertising, in your device settings under Settings › Privacy › Ads. On iOS the game asks for permission to track before it first prepares an ad (App Tracking Transparency); if you decline, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not shared and ads are still shown, just not personalised. You can change this later under Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Purchases
Removing ads is a one-time purchase made through Google Play Billing on Android or the Apple App Store on iOS. The purchase is processed by Google or Apple, and its status is validated through our billing provider, RevenueCat, so the app knows the purchase is active. This involves purchase and receipt records and an anonymous identifier RevenueCat assigns to the installation.
We never see or receive your payment details. The app does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal detail.
The computer opponent, hints and the daily vigil
The computer opponent and the hints are worked out on your device. The daily vigil is generated from the date on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere, there is no leaderboard and no server checks your moves — it all works the same offline. "Play together" is pass-and-play on one device; there is no online multiplayer and nothing is shared between devices.
Permissions
- Internet and network state — to load ads and check purchase status.
- Advertising ID (Android) / Tracking permission (iOS) — used by the AdMob SDK to deliver and measure ads, as described above.
- Billing — to make the Remove Ads purchase through Google Play or the App Store.
The game does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, or storage permissions.
Playing offline
All ten duels, pass-and-play, the daily vigil and hints work without a network connection. Ads and purchases need one; if the device is offline, Wick & Warden simply carries on without them, and a Remove Ads purchase you have already made stays active.
Children
Wick & Warden is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app removes everything the game has stored on your device, including all progress. A Remove Ads purchase is tied to your Google account or Apple ID and can be restored from the game's Settings after reinstalling.
Changes
If this policy changes, the Last updated date above changes with it.
